Nothing in HerpDesk Manager — including the husbandry assistant, species profiles, UV-B guidance, care schedules or the HerpDesk Score — is a substitute for professional veterinary examination, diagnosis or treatment.

In an emergency, contact an exotics-experienced veterinary practice immediately. Do not wait to complete a record.

Species information is general guidance only. Individual requirements vary with age, health, reproductive status, enclosure design, season and professional veterinary advice.

Where we cite published sources, including the Ferguson zone and UV index data of Baines et al. (2016), those values are guidance for healthy animals under typical conditions. Responsibility for interpreting them for a specific animal rests with the keeper and their veterinary surgeon.

The husbandry assistant and the enclosure photo analysis are automated tools. They can be incomplete or wrong, and their output must be checked against reliable sources and professional advice before you act on it.

The HerpDesk Score, statistics, leaderboards and citizen-science figures are indicative guides derived from the records you enter. They are not a welfare assessment, an audit, an inspection outcome, or any form of accreditation, and they should not be presented as such.

References to the Animal Welfare Act 2006, the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976, CITES, the Licensing of Activities Involving Animals (England) Regulations 2018 and similar frameworks are general information.
